Cybersecurity Preparedness and Engineering

AIAA Houston Section – Cybersecurity Intelligence Chair presents:

Dr. Keith C. Drake, “A Three Point Perspective for Cybersecurity Preparedness and Engineering”

Abstract

Effective cybersecurity requires more than technology. People and processes provide the core for identifying and mitigating cyber risks. At the recent Houston Cyber Summit, cybersecurity guidance for organizational board members was presented. Dr. Keith C. Drake outlines the relevance of this guidance to all organizations, and at all levels of management. He also presents Cyber Houston’s Cybersecurity Preparedness Assessment for companies of all sizes, a free self-assessment tool benefitting both organizations and individuals. He presents the current state of meeting Houston-area cybersecurity resource needs with available talent—the current situation is alarming. Finally, he outlines how Houston Baptist University and its new College of Engineering will train cyber engineers to bridge that gap in its mission to Secure America’s Future through Engineering.
